We analysed 27 companies advertising across ten beverage categories on during the quarter (Q1 2026), covering 2,353 advertisements in total. The findings point to general patterns in category investment, channel usage and communication approach across the industry, offering a useful reference point for brands thinking about their own media strategy.

This report only covers advertising on electronic media, TV and Radio.

In This Report:

  • Media Spend Trends

Television absorbed the majority of advertising activity at 67% while radio carried the remaining 33%, reflecting a lean toward visual storytelling in categories where packaging and lifestyle positioning matter.

  • Leaders In The Category

Bottled water led all categories at 33.6% of beverage advertising, ahead of beer at 27.2%. Bonis Mineral Water alone captured 18.7% of total beverage advertising with 440 ads, the highest brand volume of the quarter, a level of investment that reflects the constant-visibility demands of a frequent-purchase category.

  • Unique Strategies

Guinness generated the highest total airtime despite fewer spots (379) than Bonis Mineral Water (440) or Les Brasseries du Cameroun (408), running an estimated 41.2-second average length against Les Brasseries' 17.4 seconds. A clear tilt toward storytelling and message depth over raw frequency.

  • Media Dominance

Concentration is high across the industry, only five brands exceeded an 8% share, while the remaining 22 brands together held less than a quarter of total activity. In beer, Les Brasseries du Cameroun, Heineken and Guinness alone accounted for more than 93% of category advertising, raising the barrier for newer brands seeking national recognition.
